Welcome to Desert Wind!
Desert Wind Belly Dance has been operating in Lethbridge for 9 years. We are a fusion troupe, which means we incorporate other styles of dance in to our choreographies and classes. As the "fun" troupe in Lethbridge (yes, we are so-called), we are most interested in spreading the joy of dance to women of all ages, shapes and sizes in classes, and spreading that same joy (along with fiery energy and craziness) to audiences of all ages. "Spreading the Joy" is our motto, our slogan, our definition; we are so fortunate to be asked to share our wily passions with our community.

April 2011: A dancing reminiscent mixture of turn of the century belly dance with futuristic fantasy!!?!

Select dancers advocate for FUSION and MODERNIZATION of belly dance, while others relish the traditional and folk aspects of womanly dance, as they all dance original choreography by DWBD. Lovely lampoonery! Do you think we can really dance with a bouncing ball? Hmmm.

Does traditional belly dance stand the test of time?
When fusion dancers adopt the moves, gyrations, and mystique of the old, can
they also take the magic? In an alternate, post apocalyptic reality, Desert
Wind speculates on the blend of purity with anarchy. A simple ball holds the
world (of dance) together. A spellbinding show where, once again, DW
portrays the path not taken by many.

June 26th: PRIDE FEST OUT in the PARK, 1:00pm, Galt Gardens (this is a family-friendly event that DW supports with all our hearts. Check out Lethbridge Pride Fest on facebook).

July 1: CANADA DAY at the GALT, 1:30(ish), Galt Gardens

August: CORN FEST here we come!
